Preceramic Polymer Chemistry for Aerospace and Hypersonic Systems.

Silicon carbide (SiC) forming preceramic polymers offer solutions to some of the most demanding challenges faced in high-velocity and high-temperature flight conditions.

Polycarbosilane

Polysilazane

CermeChem is focused on the variant formulation and domestic production of the two leading SiC forming preceramic polymers:

Polycarbosilane (PCS)

PCS forms a near stoichiometric SiC ceramic with a demonstrated thermal stability of 1800⁰C+ and is the leading SiC fiber precursor.

PCS retains a superior thermomechanical and oxidation resistance capability to maintain structural integrity in extreme environments. As a result, it is the leading matrix binder in the fabrication of thermally resistant composites. Formulated for PIP and CVD infiltration methods.

Our evolution of our PCS polymer production process has resulted in a supply capability that will meet growing industry demand.

Polysilazane (PSZ)

Silicon nitride (Si3N4) has the most adaptable combination of thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties of any advanced ceramics.

PSZ preceramic formulations facilitate the production of  Si3N4, SiC and variant ceramic materials for a wide range of high stress and high thermal applications and is the backbone for nearly all ceramic type coatings.

CermeChem is building the capability to produce a series of PSZ based preceramic polymers that will serve 90% of all high temperature coating, component, composite, and fiber requirements.

Our goal is to be primary participants in the national endeavor to repatriate supply chains for critical materials necessary for effective national defense.
