Preceramic Polymer Chemistry for Aerospace and Hypersonic Systems.

Silicon carbide (SiC) forming preceramic polymers offer solutions to some of the most demanding challenges faced in high-velocity and high-temperature flight conditions.

CermeChem is focused on the variant formulation and domestic production of the two leading SiC forming preceramic polymers:

Polycarbosilane (PCS) forms a near stoichiometric SiC ceramic with a demonstrated thermal stability in excess of 2500⁰C. Variant formulations of PCS can be produced for PIP, CVI, and CLVD process methods for high temperature resistant composite fabrication and as the leading SiC fiber precursor.

Polysilazane (PSZ) facilitates the production of silicon nitride and silicon carbon-nitride used for high strength, ultra-high temperature or electro- magnetic transparent applications such as radomes and low observable exhaust systems. PSZ represents the next step in low cost SiC and SiNC fiber production.

Our goal is to be primary participants in the national endeavor to repatriate supply chains for critical materials necessary for effective national defense.
